The Cat Empire returns to Australia for a Summer Tour through the countries best outdoor venues.

While hype has come and gone on other bands, The Cat Empire has been quietly building an international Empire of immense proportion. They have become a solid festival favorite throughout Europe, USA, Canada, Japan and indeed in Australia. A melting pot of all the great things music can be, these guys have carved their own musical odyssey since their beginning in 2001.

The band now has records out in every corner of the world. They have a number one album debut, an Aria award on their shelf, as well as two double platinum selling albums to their name. The Cat Empire’s latest album SO MANY NIGHTS debuted at number 2 on the Aria charts, and went GOLD in its first week of sales.

The Cat Empires summer tour will showcase the lives shows of other Australian favourites Blue King Brown and The Beautiful Girls. “Basically we want to create the kind of event we would like to go to”, Felix said. “We go to so many festivals and shows all around the world, so we have become pretty harsh critics. The bands we have chosen to play with us on this tour are all about great live shows, and that’s what we want to create – a killer live event. The production will be great. The venues are mostly outdoors, so we can make the most of being home for the summer.”

“Word has it that the Cat Empire is simply one of the best live acts in the world”
Montreal Mirror, Canada

The Event

The Cat Empire is all about live music.  The event will be an outdoor festival-style twilight concert, touring Australia during February 2008. The show will feature horns, dancers and high profile guests galore. The band is working on a pilot with the Australian Youth Orchestra in September 07.  Some of these musicians may also share the stage in February.

The Cat Empires first 2 albums have now both sold well beyond double platinum (Virgin Records).  The band has been touring all over the world to critical acclaim, headlining major festivals, performing their own sold out tours throughout North America, Europe and Asia, and creating a media frenzy with performances such as recently completed on TV shows Letterman and Leno (USA).

By the time this show hits the road in Feb 08, the band will have released their latest studio album – as yet un-named (due in September 2007).  The Cat Empire will not have toured extensively for over a year. The demand for their show will be high, the album will be in full-swing, and fans are already desperately trying to get their hands on early release of tickets, even though the tour is not officially announced yet.

Event Content

Other bands on the bill will include one International artist (negotiations underway to secure the right act), and a popular emerging Australian talent (also to be confirmed).

The Cat Empire will be engaging one of Australia’s best lighting experts to design and deliver a lighting show and projection of images/graphics which span the bands career to date.

The wider environment will be closely considered as the event is produced.  Sites will be packed with great festival styled color and excitement:

- Food Stalls - Fine wine - Gelato Bars
